Spindle Machines and Various Industries
There are many different types of spindles. Most spindle machines are used in the processing and manufacturing industry. Uses for spindle machines can range from grinding, wood working, punching, broaching, and high speed machines along with other types of automated machinery. The manufacturing and process industry is comprised of many different sub categories. For instance, wood product manufacturing is a different category than fabricated metal product manufacturing. Both of these subclasses fall under the umbrella of manufacturing and process industry.
Manufacturing tools vary from subclass to subclass. While most industry’s use spindles and spindle oils, there are many different types of machines used for each sub class. A lathe is a machine that rotates on a spindle to cut and drill with tools that are applied to a workpiece. A lathe helps create symmetry and perfection. Milling in the machining process, uses a spindle to remove, or cut access material from a piece that is being fed in a certain direction. These pieces can be cut horizontally by hand, or in a mass amount of milling gears called gang milling. A grinding machine is used in the manufacturing industry as well. Grinding machines rotate on a spindle and are used to remove spurs, cut, or grind down surfaces. These machines can be used on many different materials depending on the industry.
